Download and Install the Desktop App

Install the Kuaimian desktop app on Windows / macOS, set up permissions, and start using Interview Copilot and Coding-Test Assist.

System-level real-time capabilities like AI Interview Copilot and Coding-Test Assist (system audio capture, understanding screen sharing, edge-docked floating prompts) can only run in the desktop app — a browser can't do them. This article walks you through downloading, installing, the first launch, and permission setup; once installed, just log in with your Kuaimian account to get going. AI Resume and AI Mock Interview live on Web and don't require the desktop app.

Download

Visit the download page, which automatically detects your operating system and recommends the matching installer; if it can't detect yours, pick manually under "Other platforms."

PlatformInstaller
WindowsInstaller (.exe)
macOSDisk image (.dmg)

Opening the download page on a phone only shows "Please open this on a computer" — the desktop app can only be installed on a computer.

macOS: Apple Silicon or Intel

macOS comes in two chip architectures:

  • Apple Silicon (M-series): Choose the version labeled Apple Silicon / arm64.
  • Intel: Choose the version labeled Intel / x64.

If you're not sure, click the Apple menu in the top-left corner → "About This Mac" to check your chip model. The download page usually already recommends the correct version for your machine, so just follow the recommendation.

Install

  • Windows: Double-click the .exe and follow the wizard to finish installing.
  • macOS: Open the .dmg and drag the Kuaimian icon into your "Applications" folder. If you get a source-verification prompt on first open, allow it under "System Settings → Privacy & Security."

First launch and login

After launching the client, log in with your Kuaimian account — the same account and the same credits as on Web. Once logged in, you can enter Interview Copilot / Coding-Test Assist.

System permissions

Interview Copilot relies on two system permissions; grant them as prompted on first use:

  • Screen sharing / screen recording: Lets Kuaimian understand the questions and conversation on screen.
  • System audio capture: Recognizes the interviewer's spoken questions in real time.

On macOS, these permissions usually need to be checked manually under "System Settings → Privacy & Security," and the app must be restarted for them to take effect. For how the data obtained via these permissions is handled and whether the floating window can be seen by the interviewer, see Interview Copilot Privacy.

Updates

The client has built-in auto-update: when a new version is released, it prompts you to upgrade — no manual re-download needed. The download page also shows the latest version number and changelog.

Once installed, the next step is Interview Copilot in Depth to learn how to use the floating prompts and configure permissions most smoothly.
